Anyone find the cam specs for the GTO LS1 yet?

(And thanks, by the way)
Doc GTO said:From what we have read the GTO cam is hotter then the standard vette but less agressive then the 385 hp Z06.
wow i thought it was closer to .500 on both sides... that seems really small!! :-off thedozlert said:It is (E/I) .479/.467 lift; 207/196 duration; 116 LSA; 117/115 timing
(Something I read in a Dec 03 Magazine---they never lie)
Something that might be relevant to this discussion is the emissions parameters GM has to meet with stock cams. Somebody pointed out that the Impala LT1 cam, at 192/196 and 111 LSA, has nearly identical overlap to the 95 f and y body cam, which is 201/208 at 117 LSA, about -28Âş at .050". It appears that GM was up against a hard limit in terms of overlap - maybe for emissions? Just for s&g I put the GTO cam into Desktop Dyno and came up with -30Âş overlap, which makes sense from an ever-tightening emissions standpoint.dozlert said:E/I for LS6 is .551/555; Duration: 218/204; 117.5 LSA (2002/2003)
.525/.525; Duration: 211/204; 116 LSA (2001)
Seems like a big difference w/the LS1

Back to square one. Does the 2004 GTO have the 2001+ Corvette LS1 camshaft or the 2001-2002 F-body camshaft or neither?

Exactly. From a torque perspective, unless it is purely due to the exhaust, and or tune, the GTO is stronger than the stock F bodies. Stock f-bodies were rated at 325 HP, the GTO at 350 - where's the extra power coming from? To know what the specs are on this cam gives you some idea of the characteristics you may want to duplicate in the new cam. The GTO also has a pronounced lope to it at times - again making me think this is not the same as the 02 f bodies.dozlert said:LOL. I think folks want to know what they are starting with.
2001/2002 F bodies were under rated in power (advertised). Compare rwhp and rwtq and you'll see a slight drop due to the IRS of the GTO.DaddySS said:the GTO is stronger than the stock F bodies. Stock f-bodies were rated at 325 HP, the GTO at 350 - where's the extra power coming from?
He is right... compare rwhp numbers of ANY stock (98 on) LS1 f-body and you will see they made right around the same as the GTO's and Vette's. There might be a handfull that only made the 325hp but most made 350+ out of the box.2001/2002 F bodies were under rated in power (advertised). That could be true, but I would like to see the actual specs on the 04 GTO cam anyway.Yellow04GTO said:He is right... compare rwhp numbers of ANY stock (98 on) LS1 f-body and you will see they made right around the same as the GTO's and Vette's. Oh, I agree I would like to see the specs too! That could be true, but I would like to see the actual specs on the 04 GTO cam anyway.
not necessarily...GM seems to like using different part numbers for the same part if it's for a different car...GTO_Scott said:I'm suprised one of the GM parts guys has posted the # for the 2004 GTO LS1 replacement, that would help us out.
